EnZed Energy was established in 2025 to take advantage of the New Zealand Government’s re-opening of petroleum exploration in the country. The founders of EnZed have significant experience in: new ventures globally; procuring finance and partners; New Zealand’s petroleum and minerals sectors; etc.
EnZed is currently working with the Government to be granted an offshore block in the Taranaki Basin that contains the mature (fully 3D seismic defined) Kaheru prospect. Formal award is expected in the next couple of months
EnZed estimates Kaheru contains ~300 Bcfe of prospective resources and lies immediately adjacent to gas processing infrastructure with spare capacity and connectivity to New Zealand’s gas grid.
New Zealand’s gas demand is forecast to be significantly largely than current supply in the short term – so much so that the Government is currently organizing LNG imports to meet peak needs. The gas market options for Kaheru are accordingly very strong in both pricing and volumetric terms.
EnZed aims to drill Kaheru by around the end of 2027 (subject to rig availability, etc) and is currently seeking to engage with potential partners to join it in this exciting venture.
