Harvey has been the Director, Environment & Asia Pacific at IOGP since 2021, bringing to the role 34 years of experience in both government and private sector. His IOGP role encompasses and leads efforts to identify and address decommissioning, environmental and metocean challenges and opportunities, develop and promote good environmental and decommissioning practices, sponsor research, advocating the industry’s position across multiple stakeholders. The role is wide ranging, covering ocean science research programmes on underwater sound, environmental genomics, decommissioning, environmental management and metocean science. Prior to IOGP, Harvey spent 20 years in BP in Perth and London with a global focus on environmental and decommissioning liabilities. He spent 14 years with the Western Australian Government’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) with roles spanning air quality monitoring, Management of Industry Licensing, Pollution Management and Contaminated Sites.
