Simon Younger has been the Chair of the ExxonMobil Australia Group of Companies since mid-2024.
Since joining the ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Australia as an engineering graduate in 1997, supporting offshore and onshore Gippsland Basin gas production assets, Simon has held a variety of engineering, operations, planning, and commercial roles. Simon has broad experience across ExxonMobil’s global portfolio, having supported or managed operations in Australia and around the world, including in Nigeria, Qatar, Canada, and the US.
Prior to returning to Australia in 2024, Simon was based in Canada as Senior Vice President, Imperial Oil, leading Imperial’s Upstream organisation. As part of Imperial Oil’s Management Committee his responsibilities included Research, Exploration, Project Development, Drilling, and Production Operations. Simon oversaw all aspects of Upstream operations including safety, operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering, logistics, cost management, personnel development and overall profitability across a number of producing assets include Kearl, Cold Lake, Norman Wells, Syncrude and a range of smaller operations.
In addition to his role as Chair of the ExxonMobil Australia Group of Companies, Simon is also the General Manager of Esso Australia, which is currently undertaking Australia’s largest decommissioning project in Bass Strait, off the Victorian coast.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Tasmania, Australia.
