APPEA 2026 Conference and Exhibition

Hew Atkin is the acting Head of Division of Gas Markets Division at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). He has over 20 years’ experience in the public sector. Prior to DCCEEW, Hew worked across a number of areas at the Commonwealth Department of Finance, including Commercial Division, Quarantine Infrastructure Delivery and Budget Group. Hew began his career in Mergers and Exemptions at Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and also worked for a number of years in equity markets policy at the Financial Services Authority in London, United Kingdom.
