Company Profile

The state engineering regulator is the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ). Established in 1930, BPEQ administers the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (PE Act), regulates the engineering profession and registers engineers to practise.

Engineers registered with BPEQ are given the protected title of registered professional engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Under the PE Act, any person carrying out a professional engineering service in or for Queensland must be RPEQ. The RPEQ mark demonstrates an engineer’s qualifications, competence, and experience, and by being RPEQ, engineers commit themselves to ethical practice and ongoing professional development.
More than 23,000 RPEQs are registered across various engineering disciplines, registered by BPEQ.

BPEQ is also charged with investigating RPEQs whose conduct falls below the standards mandated by the PE Act or persons who do not comply with the PE Act (e.g. carrying out a professional engineering service when unregistered).

BPEQ – protecting the public and setting the standard of engineering.
