Ocius, an Australian leader in maritime drones (ocius.com.au), specializes in building and operating autonomous surface vessels (USVs) known as Bluebottles. These 6.95-meter vessels boast an impressive track record, having traversed over 30,000 nautical miles and spending more than 1,000 days at sea. Notably, Bluebottles can operate hundreds of nautical miles offshore for months at a time.
Ocius offers two Bluebottle classes: the fully renewable Beth Class and the diesel-electric hybrid Bathy Class. The eco-friendly Beth Class harnesses solar, wind, and wave power to generate 150W for payloads, which can weigh up to 300kg. This makes it ideal for cost-effective missions like marine mammal observation using passive acoustic arrays and environmental data collection.
For tasks requiring extended power (1kW+), the Bathy Class offers a diesel-hybrid solution. This allows for continuous operation of larger payloads for around 25 days, weather permitting. This class excels in applications such as hydrography and pipeline inspection.
